Non-Diapausing Thrips Predatory Mite - Amblyseius cucumeris
Applied Bio-Nomics Ltd. was the first North American company to produce A. cucumeris. This predatory mite feeds on immature thrips spider mite eggs and pollen and in the absence of these, must be maintained in the greenhouse until thrips are present. This is facilitated by using special slow release packets or by placing a small culture of the predator at the base on the rockwool block and next to the stem of the plant. Bulk bran culture is also available in 1 liter (50,000 ) tubes or 1000 packet to apply directly onto leaves that are thrips infested.
