The Ladybeetle for Whitefly - Delphastus catalinae

Delphastus feeds on all species of whitefly and continues to work at low temperatures and light levels that limit the effectiveness of whitefly parasites. Applied Bio-Nomics Ltd. was the first and now is the largest North American producer of Delphastus. Adult Delphastus feed on whitefly eggs and pupae and can consume over 200 whitefly eggs per day. The larval stage feeds on all stages of whitefly but avoids feeding on Encarsia parasitized scale making them excellent partners in whitefly control. Unlike Encarsia which are hampered by high densities of whitefly, Delphastus prefers whitefly hot spots and the adults fly and are attracted to these areas.
