Mirid Predatory Bug - Dicyphus hesperis
This predatory bug is closely related to Macrolophus a predatory bug commonly used in European greenhouses to assist in the control of whitefly, thrips and aphids on tomato crops. Dicyphus is a voracious predator and can consume 15 whitefly scale and 13 thrips larvae per day. Applied Bio-Nomics Ltd. has worked with Dr. Dave Gillespie at Agriculture Canada to develop mass rearing for a non diapausing strain of this new biological control agent.
